Who's Ant?
Antony Howlett | BSc MMTD First (Hons)
I am a perfectionist by nature. If I am going to do a job it has to be done properly.
I like to build websites that work. By this, I mean they don't just look impressive to visitors, but they are also highly user friendly and functional. I believe the key to a good user experience is delivering the visitor the information they require as quickly and effectively as possible, leading to a excellent user experience.
I believe that it is essential to have good information architecture combined with a high level of consideration for principles of usability and accessibility when designing a website.
I gained first class honours degree in BSc Multimedia Technology and Design at Brunel University. This has provided me with a cutting edge knowledge of current, along with emerging web and multimedia technologies, production techniques and professional software packages.
Many of the projects that I have completed while at university have offered a large amount of creative freedom during their completion. This has allowed me to enhance my design skills further and develop as a creative professional whilst improving my technical knowledge and experience.
I carried out an industrial placement for 12 months as part of my degree during my thrid year, working as a web designer/ developer in a web design company based in Slough known as Webexpectations.com Ltd.
During that time I gained valuable experience in the complete process of developing corporate and e-commerce websites in XHTML, CSS and PHP. I worked predominantly using only a basic text editor to hand-code each website from scratch. Through working with the web development team I gained an extensive knowledge of
W3C web standards and the importance of conforming to accessibility guidelines.
After proving myself worthy of handling responsibility, I was also offered oppotunities to develope vital business skills as well including - managing and liasing directly with clients, managing and distributing work for projects, constantly meeting ever changing deadlines, managing project priorities and working as part of an integral team.
I am currently employed full time and also work as a freelance web designer and developer in my spare time. For a quote, consultation or to discuss your ideas for a new project get in touch with me. If you would like to know more you can also download my CV here.
